Biography

William Buyck is an experienced attorney, having practiced in the private and public spheres since 2016.

At SMITH | ROBINSON, his practice concentrates in the areas of medical malpractice defense and general litigation. Previously, at another South Carolina firm, his defense litigation practice focused on personal injury, construction defects, and contract disputes.

Before that, he clerked for two years for the Honorable H. Bruce Williams of the South Carolina Court of Appeals, where he assisted on cases in various courts, including Circuit, Family and Probate Court, as well as state Workers’ Compensation Commission, and Administrative Law Court.

William is a 6th-generation South Carolinian, raised in Saint Matthews. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in biological sciences from the University of South Carolina in 2007, and then a certificate of graduate studies in biomedical sciences from the same university in 2010. He earned his Juris Doctor from Charleston School of Law in 2016.

Devoted to his state and community, he has engaged in public service through various organizations. He has been a member of the Special Olympics of South Carolina committee, and the Make-a-Wish committee through the South Carolina Bar’s Young Lawyers Division.

Outside his law practice, William enjoys bicycling, cooking, golf, History, hunting, fishing, and Gamecock sports.
