Tia L. Reed is an associate attorney at Smith Robinson. Ms. Reed earned her Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina (USC) School of Law in 2022. During law school, she was a member of the Mock Trial Bar. She received the D. Reece Williams III Trial Advocacy Award for Best Advocate and the Glenn Family Mock Trial Competition Award for Best Closing Argument. She also participated in various organizations including being a member of the Black Law Students Association, Women in Law, the Student Bar Association, and the Federal Bar Association Student Division. She also received a CALI Excellence Award in Poverty Law and Policy and in Transportation Law. She was also a participant in the Konduros Leadership Development Program.

Prior to joining Smith Robinson, Ms. Reed clerked for the Honorable Alison R. Lee, of the Fifth Judicial Circuit of South Carolina. Prior to her clerkship, she worked as a judicial extern for the Honorable Jocelyn Newman, a judicial intern for the Honorable Joseph M. Strickland and the Honorable Walton J. McLeod, IV, and as a law clerk for the Fifth Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office. She also worked as a research assistant on the Journal of Law and Mobility at the USC School of Law and the University of Michigan Law School. Prior to transitioning her career to the legal profession, Ms. Reed worked as an integrated producer in advertising in New York City.
