Biography
Matthew M. Barton joined the firm as an associate attorney in 2025, with a practice area that primarily consists of Commercial Real Estate, Business and Financial Transactions, and Local Counsel Services. Before joining SMITH | ROBINSON, Matthew was an associate attorney at D’Alberto, Graham & Grimsley, LLC, where he received invaluable experience in conducting and supervising a wide variety of commercial transactions.
A native of Chapin, South Carolina, Matthew received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Clemson University in 2021. He married his high school sweetheart after his first year at the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he served as an active member of the Pro Bono Board and received a CALI Award in International Trade Law. After graduating cum laude in 2024, Matthew was admitted to practice law in the state of South Carolina and is active in a variety of committees, including: the Cinderella Project Committee, the SC Bar’s Diversity Committee, the Special Projects Committee, and the Palmetto Land Title Association’s Legislative Committee. Matthew also serves as the President of a local non-profit organization that serves the community by hosting annual back-to-school drives and organizing variety of other community-building activities and events.
