Biography
Fred Hanna has a broad civil litigation practice focusing primarily on complex business disputes and appellate advocacy. Representing individuals, businesses, and government entities, Fred handles cases of all shapes and sizes in state and federal courts.
Prior to joining SMITH | ROBINSON, Fred gained invaluable experience as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable George C. James, Jr. at the South Carolina Supreme Court. During his time with Justice James, Fred sharpened his writing skills and learned how to effectively frame complex issues for judicial determination.
Fred graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law magna cum laude and was inducted into the Order of the Coif and the Order of the Wig and Robe. While in law school, Fred served as a Student Works Editor for the South Carolina Law Review, and he received the CALI Awards for Appellate Advocacy, Legal Writing for the Courts, Legal Research, Analysis and Writing II, Topics in Insurance Law, and Coastal Law. Fred also served as a law clerk to the South Carolina Senate Judiciary Committee where he had the privilege of working closely with the Judicial Merit Selection Commission.
Fred completed his undergraduate studies at Clemson University and is an avid fan of the Tigers. Fred graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in Philosophy.
