South Carolina Super Lawyers has honored two members of SMITH | ROBINSON law firm, Murrell Smith and Shanon Peake, in its 2025 lists.
Smith was named to the latest list of South Carolina Super Lawyers. A co-founder of the firm, he focuses his Sumter-based practice on a variety of areas including civil litigation, medical malpractice defense, insurance defense, and appellate litigation. He is the current Speaker of the South Carolina House of Representatives, serving in that capacity since 2022.
Among other accolades, Smith was elected to membership in the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) in 2020 and was also selected for the 2020 Compleat Lawyer Award by the University of South Carolina School of Law.
Meanwhile, Shanon Peake was named for the third time to Super Lawyers’ “Rising Stars” list. Before joining the firm in 2019, she clerked for the Honorable Paula H. Thomas of the South Carolina Court of Appeals and worked for that court as a staff attorney. Peake was named a member of the firm in 2024. Her practice in the firm’s Columbia office focuses on a wide variety of civil litigation, including complex commercial litigation.
The “Rising Stars” list recognizes outstanding lawyers who are younger than 40, or who have been practicing for 10 years or less. Super Lawyers and Rising Stars are selected through a multiphase process involving peer nomination, independent research and peer evaluation.
