Jonathan M. Robinson is the managing partner of Smith Robinson. Jon has represented clients in South Carolina state and federal courts and has successfully tried numerous cases to jury verdicts. He also serves as the Assistant County Attorney for Kershaw County.

Prior to the merger of Smith Robinson, Jon was a partner at his previous law firm, DuBose Robinson in Camden where he practiced from 2001 to 2019. Prior to that, Jon clerked for The Honorable L. Henry McKellar, South Carolina Circuit Court Judge. During law school, Jon clerked for Gergel, Nickles, and Solomon. Prior to law school he served on the executive staff of South Carolina Governor David M. Beasley. He also interned with the South Carolina Department of Commerce’s Coordinating Council for Economic Development.

Jon received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Carolina in 1997 and his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2000. Jon is an active member of the community. He has served as president of the Kershaw County Bar Association and Chair of the South Carolina Commission on National and Community Service. He is currently a member of the Kershaw County Bar Association, the SC Defense Trial Attorneys Association, Electric Cooperative Bar Association, and South Carolina Bar. 

Jon was elected to membership in the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) in 2020. Jon has also been selected for the 2023 edition of Best Lawyers in America for his work in Commercial Litigation and Insurance Litigation.
